The (late) Breakfast Society: Digital Youth Work - Rationale

    Hey Mike

This looks like it could be a fantastic project :)

We're thinking of adding a Wiki (probably Media Wiki?) to UK Youth Online soon... happy to provide that as space to host some of this if useful....

Let me know if there are any ways I can help...

I'll let others know about it soon...

Thanks Tim - quite excited about it as a challenge - its already taking up too much of my thoughts but thats a good thing!

We'll definitely need something like a wiki when we get to the 'open source' stage so it would be good to take up that offer - hopefully by then there will be enough people comfortable using whatever you decide to use too.

In the meantime I'm going to keep on throwing up thoughts on here until it gets to the stage where I can hand it over and see where it goes - but please do throw in suggestions as I get ideas up and point anyone you think might be useful/interested to contribute too.

    Hey Mike

Love the sound of the project and happy to help in any way I can. As we all interpret differently I was just wondering if there is something about community / contribution / participation within this. Are they inherent within the modules any way or does there need to be something more explicit?

Keen to see how this can be moved into online working

    Good luck

Hi Hilary - yes all of those. I did mean to get into that but realised I was already going on a bit, so will try and expand a bit more in the next post.

Some of the modules will be more explicit in certain areas than others - so for example I think 'Appreciating the Environment' would have a strong community contribution element, whereas others may focus more on raising awareness about certain things. In all cases though I think the primary aim will be to support the individual in personal development (with other things being important but secondary aims).

I don't see that its necessary to become too deeply concerned with assessing individuals 'creative & expressive' abilities etc. but am regarding the modules as a useful framework around which to develop a 'rounded' programme. It may be that others feel its necessary to press deeper than that though and hopefully that can be dealt with when we get to the 'open source' stages.
